1) Who is a good candidate? Both treatments address stubborn pockets of fat which are resistant to diet and exercise. CoolSculpting is designed for the patient close to his or her ideal body weight, who may not want to undergo a surgical procedure. Liposuction has been a very popular procedure for patients who may have larger deposits of fatty tissue, or who are combining the treatment with another surgical procedure to achieve overall body contouring goals.
2) What are the benefits? When dramatic results are desired, liposuction can provide a dramatic change in body contour in large areas of body fat accumulation. CoolSculpting® provides the least invasive technique, without the use of any needles or anesthesia.
3) What is the recovery period? Liposuction patients often rest comfortably at home for several days before beginning to resume normal activities, but may require 6 weeks for exertional activity. The recovery period for patients undergoing CoolSculpting® basically is non-existent. Other than a bit of sensitivity or soreness in the treated area, there are almost down time and a patient may return to the gym the same day.
4) Which procedure will give me the best results? CoolSculpting offers a sizable reduction in fat cells – about 20-25%, with results visible in 4-16 weeks. Liposuction patients often see results within the first few weeks, but the overall final results may not be seen for several months, when the swelling has subsided.
