A new study from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons shows an increase in surgical procedures among men from 2009 to 2010. According to the study of 1,000 male patients, over 1.1 million surgical and minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures were performed last year alone.Top 5 surgical procedures in 2010:
1. Nose Reshaping (64,000)
2. Eyelid Surgery (31,000)
3. Liposuction (24,000)
4. Male Breast Reduction (18,000)
5. Hair Transplantation (13,000)
The top five fastest-growing surgical procedures from 2009 to 2010 were facelift (14 percent increase), ear surgery, or otoplasty, (11 percent increase), liposuction (7 percent increase), breast reduction (6 percent increase,) and eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, (4 percent increase).
Over 918-thousand of the 1.1 million cosmetic procedures performed in 2010 were minimally-invasive procedures which included Botox, Juvederm and other injectables. These minimally-invasive procedures also showed an increase of 9-10% from 2009.
