What is the Life Expectancy of Breast Implants?
Breast augmentation is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures at Aesthetic Surgical Images. Patients seeking this procedure often worry about the need to replace implants because of aging. There is a commonly held belief amongst patients that implants should be exchanged every 10 years. This myth probably has its origin with the implant manufacturers’ 10-year warranty. Implants do not have an expiration date.
In many cases, breast implants can be expected to last the patient’s entire lifetime. There are, however, several times when replacement is indicated. Obviously if implant deflation occurs, replacement will be necessary. This is accomplished by re-opening the incision and replacing the deflated implant. Recovery is quick since the implant pocket has already been developed.
Implants may also need to be exchanged when patients want to have larger breasts. After a period of time, many patients adjust to their implant size and want to become larger; once again, exchange is easily accomplished.
Abdominoplasty, Mini Abdominoplasty, Liposuction, or Coolsculpting: How Do I Choose?
At Surgical Images, we see many patients who have concerns about the appearance of their abdomen. Many of these patients present because of the effects of pregnancy, massive weight loss, over eating, or lack of exercise. Most of them have tried diet and exercise and despite this, have been unable to solve their problem. These patients have difficulty finding clothes that fit properly and feel that people stare at them. This often results in lowered self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-image. For those reasons, they seek plastic surgery consultations.

Group Consultation
When seeking cosmetic surgery, not
everyone’s primary concern is privacy. Many patients enjoy going through the
process with friends and family who may share many of the same concerns. At
Aesthetic Surgical Images, we encourage patients to bring friends and family to
consultations.
The
advantages of group consultations are significant. At Aesthetic Surgical Images,
we realize that every patient has different aesthetic goals and because of this
we individualize their treatment. We also realize that gaining a comfort level
requires different things for different people. For some patients, privacy is
their primary concern. For other patients, the involvement of friends and
family in their decision is critical. Over the years we have seen how the buddy
system helps patients become comfortable with cosmetic surgery.

Why Do They Call it “Plastic” Surgery?

In reality, plastic surgery received its name long before synthetic polymers were developed and at no point have plastic surgeons desired a plastic or artificial look in patients receiving surgery. The actual origin of the term comes from the Greek language. The Greek word “plastic” means to mold or give form.
The Benefits of Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is one of the more common facial procedures performed at Surgical Images. This is because the nose sits in the center of the face and its relationship with surrounding structures is critical to facial aesthetics.

The patients’ motivation for Rhinoplasty and their expectations are crucial factors in determining satisfaction levels. It’s also important that critical analysis of the nose and surrounding structures be performed before Rhinoplasty surgery is undertaken. When this type of assessment is done, patient satisfaction is generally very high.
Cosmetic Surgery New Year’s Resolutions
Every year the Doctors at Aesthetic Surgical Images see a large number of patients who have made New Year’s resolutions that involve cosmetic surgery. These individuals have areas of concern, which have bothered them for prolonged periods of time. With the New Year upon us, it’s not uncommon for them to finally deal with their problems.

Several studies have looked at New Year’s resolutions and determined that a large percentage involves weight loss, improved fitness, and other types of activities designed to enhance appearance, self-image, and self-esteem. In fact, it’s interesting to note that 45% of Americans make New Year’s resolutions, but only 8% of them are successful in achieving their goals.
